BRIGHAM SOLIDER REPORTED KILLED

BRIGHAM CITY, Aug. 9–Mrs. Beth Baxter, Brigham City, had been informed today her husband, Pvt. James Clifford Baxter, was killed while serving with the field artillery at Fort Sill, Okla., on Aug. 1. Pvt. Baxter was born on July 1, 1918, at Toledo, Ohio, a son of James R. and Margie Baxter. He was reared and educated in Ohio, and in 1940 married Beth Christensen, Brigham City. He was inducted into the army in February of 1943, and had been stationed at Fort Still. Surviving besides his widow are three sons, Charles John and Paul, Brigham City; his father, Toledo, Ohio, his mother, Mrs. Julius Paulik, San Mateo, Calif., and the following brothers and sisters: Richard Baxter, Brunswick, Ga., Anthony Baxter, San Mateo, Calif.; Mrs. Glen Johnson, San Francisco, Calif. and Katherine Ann Baxter, Toledo, Ohio. The body will be brought to the mortuary in Brigham City and it is planned to conduct funeral services Thursday.” – Find A Grave
