PFc. Cahoon was apart of a the Split-Ops Training and was participating in a combat training. Pfc. Cahoon collapsed while working out with her fellow soldiers, and suffered an extreme brain injury after being too long without enough oxygen. She passed five days later and was diagnosed with a rare heart abnormality. She was attending with her identical twin sister at the time, and her sister was able to receive an internal defibrillator.
