“Pvt. Steven C. Partida of Houston was in his fourth week of basic training. They had completed three kilometers of an eight kilometer (almost five miles) road march when he collapsed. Immediate first aid measures were applied and he was transported to Winder Medical Clinic and then to Martin Army Community Hospital. He was subsequently flown to Fort Gordon’s Eisenhower Hospital where died after collapsing during a road march at Fort Benning at age 39. ” – Obit
